What is the best season ? The climate in French Polynesia is mild all year long and even though the months of July, August and September have a higher risk of strong winds, the underwater life is very rich. We generally have good diving conditions all year long. What is the water temperature ? The temperature varies between 26°C (79°F) at its coldest in June, July, August, and 30°C (86°F) at its warmest in December, January, February. A skin or shorty wetsuit is sufficient. Does it rain a lot during the "rainy" season ? There is little difference between the seasons, and most of the rainfall is nocturnal and doesn't have a large affect on the visibility underwater. |

What equipment should I bring with me ? Blue Nui Dive Centers provides free of charge all the basic equipment, which is identical in each of its dive structures. So you only need your bathing suit and a corrective mask if you wear glasses and do not have contacts. If you feel more comfortable with your own equipment, you are welcome to use it and the dive centers offers rinsing tanks and storage lockers. Will my own regulator be compatible with your tanks ? The standard equipment in French Polynesia uses yoke valves, but if your regulator has a din attachment, we can provide you with an adapter. What kind of tanks do you use ? We use standard 12 litre (80 cu. ft.) aluminum tanks which require a few more pounds of weight if you are used to diving with steel tanks. Do you have nitrox or re-breathers ? Due to the fact that our islands are remote, it is difficult to obtain the necessary gases, so we use regular compressed air. May I take off the tank and other equipment before climbing back on the boat ? Even though all our boats are equipped with ladders which make climbing easy, it is possible to put on and take off all equipment in the water. We have special ropes for this purpose to help make it easy. Avez-vous la possibilité de stocker les équipements perso ? Nous mettons à votre disposition tous les rangements nécessaires pour vous permettre de ne pas vous déplacer constamment avec vos équipements. |

Will I be charged for excess baggage on the inter-island flights ? Flights on Air Tahiti usually allow 10 kgs. (22 lbs.) of baggage for island residents, but make exceptions for travellers from international flights of up to 20 kgs. (45 lbs.). Any excess weight beyond that allowance is subject to extra charges, but the company is usually understanding and does not charge for a few extra kilos of weight. However, if you are carrying much more than 20 or 30 kgs., expect to be charged for the excess. |

Are the dives suitable for taking photographs and videos ? The clarity of the water and the density of the aquatic life make ideal conditions for capturing your dives on film. Just remember to bring enough film, cassettes, batteries and any other necessities which may not always be easy to find on these remote islands. Can we view our own videos ? Our dive centers in Manihi and Bora Bora are equipped with multi-system television screens (PAL, SECAM, NTSC) so that you can view your own videos right after your dives. You should, however, make sure you bring your own wire connectors specific for your camera. Is it possible to be filmed during the dives ? In Manihi and Bora Bora we offer personalized video services which allow you to acquire a souvenir filmed by experienced cameramen providing professionally edited videos of your dives. Is it possible to rent cameras and video equipment ? We do not have filming equipment available for rent, however, we do have waterproof disposable cameras for sale so that you can try your hand at taking underwater photos. Are there developing laboratories available? There are no developing laboratories on site, but on the island of Bora Bora there is a camera shop that can have prints back within a few days. |

Can we dive without an instructor? Yes, it is possible to dive alone, depending on your level of certification; but for you to have the best experience possible, and for reasons of security specific to our sites, an instructor will always be present. What level of certification is necessary? The diving conditions are so exceptional that most of the sites are accessible to beginners as well as advanced divers. Many divers discovered their passion for diving in our waters!!! If it has been quite a while since your last dive, we can propose a re-adaptation dive by request. Can I get certified
